When most people think of ski jobs in Japan, they think of Niseko. Niseko, located on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido more recently become "the place" for foreigners to come to ski in Japan. This sector has experienced a boom in the tourist resort of unexpected proportions, and each year place only becomes larger and larger. There are several reasons why it became the most popular ... but there are many reasons why it is not necessarily the best.

Niseko is often called "Little France" because there are so many Australian tourists. The reason why it is so popular foreign is not 1 but 4 stations coast to coast, with 1 package running at all, which is added to the agreement the largest handset in Japan. And the other reason is that dust - Hokkaido is the northernmost island of Japan, which basically means it is also the coldest, so that snow There is a little powder driest and best in the world. Taking this into account, Niseko is fantastic. But the problem is that there are so many tourists there. The truth is that Niseko has lost some of its original charm, it has been swamped by foreigners.

What many do not realize is there are more than 200 ski resorts in Japan, many of them experience more snow, better conditions, facilities or dispose of the most luxurious of Niseko, but it is overlooked by foreigners. And best of these regions is that they are still Japanese in every direction. Visit these areas is not only a place resort, but a total experience of culture. People are much friendlier, the food more authentic (and delicious!), And the roads are much less congested.

Before you decide to try working in Niseko this year, at least do some research before you leave. I traveled in most seasons in Japan, and I recommend to the regions of Nagano, or Niigata. Both are very popular among Japanese, but are relatively unknown to foreigners. In addition, Niigata is only a journey of 1 hour bullet train from Tokyo, for what will probably be faster to Niseko (which is 2-3 hours drive from the airport Hokkaido). I personally like Nagano (which was the home of the Winter Olympics in 1998) because it is small bars, restaurants, and plenty famous hot springs (called "Onsen"). And both Nagano and Niigata sit in the beautiful valleys, surrounded by at least 10 stations different to choose from.

Several other sources mention Lakes - Gifu, Shiga Kogen, Tohoku - all great fun ... but the point is, if you considering coming to Japan, remember that you are not limited to Niseko - Australia soon. With a little planning, make your time Japan a new cultural asset, an unforgettable experience!

Ski Jobs Japan are the best way to experience the amazing country! Choose from a number of jobs, stay for a few months, and you'll never want to leave!

Best ski resorts in Japan?

I will be in Japan in late January and I am looking for good ski areas and hotels for single adults. Maily looking in the Niigata or Nagano areas, or between there and Tokyo.

My suggestion since you will have to go by train is to go to the Yuzawa area. From Tokyo you take the Jouetsu shinkansen to Echigo-Yuzawa station. If you catch the earliest shinkansen, you can take it directly to Gala Yuzawa station, which is directly below Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort. The Yuzawa area is surrounded by many ski resorts, some good, some small. My favortite in the Echigo-Yuzawa area is Jouetsu Kokusai resort. To get to Jouetsu Kokusai, you get off the Shinkansen at Echigo Yuzawa and take the local train to Jouetsu Kokusai Resort. The local train stops in front of one of the resort lodges. Another option is to take a taxi to Echigo Yuzawa. Gala Yuzawa and surrounding resorts are close enough for day trips.

My favorite resort(s) in the Nagano area is Hakuba 47 & Hakuba Gouryu (2 resorts on 1 mountain). Access is a bit more troublesome. You take the Nagano Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano, then take a 70 min bus ride to the Hakuba area. From the bus station, you take shuttles or taxis to the resorts in the area.

If you want a weekend package, it is best to visit a travel agency and have them book you hotel, train and any extras. Travel agencies ae always in and around major train stations, and the ski brochures are dispayed outside and are free. Across Travel in Shibuya has staff that speaks English and can help you out.

Sometimes we crash in Karaoke places until they kick us out and then we sleep in the parking lot waiting for the lifts to open.
On the way home to Tokyo we stopped at an onsen for a very warm and relaxing bath, massage and some sake.
Of course the best snow Japan has in in Hokkaido.

KidSki Kid-Ski Ski Leash (ages 2-6)

KidSki Kid-Ski Ski Leash (ages 2-6)

$36.95

The Ski Leash should be thought of as a learn-to-turn device, not a run-away strap. Any child strong enough to balance on skis and slide down gentle slopes, but not yet able to turn and control speed in a wedge, is a prime candidate for the Ski Leash. To teach kids to turn with a Ski Leash, you steer them through turns by steering their hips. Some other similar devices twist the childs upper body. When their hips turn, the child turns. In order to steer, the child must be in a wedge position. Any child inexperienced enough to need a Ski Leash is also inexperienced enough to need at least a Tip Lock, and maybe a Wedge Lock as well. To maintain speed, ski on a gentle pitch, not very flat beginner terrain. Its easier to steer a child through turns on intermediate terrain than beginner terrain. This device can be worn with the Kiddie Lift. The leash is about 14 long so each lead is about 7.
