cross country ski pole length

As simple as it may seem to experience injuries due to Snow Skis and poles to and from maintenance stations, can be avoided, Here's how.

The first thing to know is that traveling with skis, boots and poles is not an easy task, even the best skiers. In this spirit, we will maintain security and ease of transport as our goal with trying to look like real skiing "for" that you are!

Phase:

- Place the skis and ski peak, with funds, the "base", ie face to face. You can get tapes "Velcro ski cheap (2 required) for your rental shop, ski and placed in the top and bottom of both skis on their webbing together, Ski Bindings outside. Take your ski poles in the straps ( "loops" that revolve around the wrists) and place the loop on each respective ski then tie them together with a piece of string around the waist "or middle of the ski. What follows is very important to travel by car or plane. You need to buy a Ski Bag "of good quality to protect the integrity of the Union. Wanting to prevent dust or road salt entering and affecting the safety features of your links. Always a good idea to check the ski shop and adapt their link before going to the skiing on the first day of your skiing holiday. Ski bags, with the protection of his team, will also be a place where you can bring spare socks, hats, gloves and other items unwavering as ever, there is space to do so. Last word of advice put your socks, gloves and hat in a plastic bag to not get wet on the road to the ski area!

- Boots go on a Boot Bag, along with other essentials, toothpaste, cream Shaving and Ski Goggles (it is not crushed) ... because you always want to take your boot bag with you on the plane. If your baggage is Skiing and lost luggage, you can always rent skis on the water, but his own boots are difficult to replace.

- Your clothes and go kit in a backpack "the size and shape is a personal thing, but needs a good back support and side pockets. This leaves your hands free and they are necessary.

- Make sure all bags and pack have the same identifying mark (like a flag or patch or plaque his former school) and any other contact information in the fabric and sewn to the handle or collect straps!

At the airport:

- The best option is to get a cart and wheel your ticket orders at the counter, having a link to "stretch strap with hooks on both ends, "This will keep things up in the car and is very handy for many other things, on a ski trip!

In the ski:

- After all the material SKI BAG which is discussed in the ski shop in the region and take arrangements to pick it up in the morning if work needs to be done on skis. Remember to wear boots that ski technicians can not adjust your bindings without them!

- The fun part is making your skis on his shoulder in a way that your girlfriend thinks you are a true "ski pro ".... friends were intimidated by his skill.

Ski transport:

- Place Standing Skis spatulas in place (still in the bands Velcro) and relapse after watching the tails of the skis behind you. Bring your skis to a position somewhat horizontally with a portion of the finger, " the front of your marriage back of his shoulder. Let the skis rest on the shoulder with the lines at an angle that allows them to be on your head with the tip down in front of you! You will carry your ski poles, with his other hand. Make sure that every time you turn around, make sure that nobody is behind can be affected.

Now that you know how to look good in others can not!

Backcountry ski questions?

I'm attending a class that's requiring me to write a description of backcountry ski equipment. My portion of the assignment is to write about skis and poles. I have never skied in my life, and have no idea where to start. I have to define terms (and differentiate backcountry skis from regular cross Country Skis) such as sidecut, camber, flex, and metal edge. For poles, I need to differentiate between cross country and backcountry, and if they are to be used as avalanche probes. Huh??? I didn't think they were long enough to be used in any avalanche, but what do I know???

I've googled and searched and found some info (relative to length and width of these skis) but some of the answers I've found have made me more confused then when I started. Can anyone out there help and explain in very simple terms what these terms mean and the differences in these terms between cross country skis and backcountry skis?

Thank you for your help!

XC skis are narrow and very light weight, back country skis are heavier, wider, with steel edges and are designed for a combination purpose of walking and skiing downhill. XC skis are designed for flat or uphill use. XC saying hills are something you must go down so you can go up them. BC hills are what you must go up so you can come down them.
Flex how a ski will bend when weight is applied to it.
Camber, the bend built in the ski so it can flex.
Side cut (Waisting) the narrowing of the side of the ski under foot to allow the whole length to contact the snow when in use.
Metal (steel) edges are in the bottom side of the ski to allow the ski to hold on firm or hard packed snow. Skiers never ski on ice, ice is the clear frozen water that goes in drinks.
XC ski poles are light weight and longer than Alpine poles, BC poles are adjustable, that can be used when extended to probe for a lost partner buried in an avalanche.
Search for "Barking Bears Forum" do a lot of reading there about skiing. Also go buy a couple of ski magazines and research REI you may learn a few things there.
The information I've given you needs to expanded, but these are the basics. XC and BC use different boots and bindings, these are also critical to the sport.

KidSki Kid-Ski HBar - 1 Piece

KidSki Kid-Ski HBar - 1 Piece

$29.95

With the Kiddie Ski Bar, you parents can now teach your children to ski only 2-3 months after they learn to walk by giving them lots of slide-time in their first winter. It gives stability to child and control to parent. You can push, pull, twist, tilt, lift, even pick-up and carry your child if s/he starts to lose balance. A great place to introduce your toddler (and yourself) to the Kiddie Ski Bar is on the playroom rug. Make carpet skiing a fun game, so when you hit the slopes, the activity is second nature for both you and your child. And, carpet skiing counts toward slide-time. For all ages 1-8, the Kiddie Ski Bar also makes a great towing device for backyard ski-sliding. With child in tow, take walks in your backyard, on snow-covered golf courses, cross-country trails, frozen lakes, city parks, or wooded trails. On grass, a child needs only a ½ inch of snow to slide on skis. A note of caution: Always use the Kiddie Ski Bar with the Tip Lock (even when carpet skiing), as well as with the Kiddie Lift. You should be better than an intermediate skier to ski with a child on the Kiddie Ski Bar. Due to the size of the HBar we are unable to ship this to countries outside of the US and Canada.
